Who we are
Clearlot ("we", "us") buys used toys, books and games from sellers in the UK. The data controller is REPLACE THIS (registered company name, company number, registered address). Contact: REPLACE THIS (email address).
What we collect
- Photos you upload of the items you want to sell.
- An optional free-text note you add about the lot.
- If you accept a quote: your name, email, phone number and address.
- Basic technical data (IP address, browser type) used only to run the site and prevent abuse.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To generate an estimated offer from your photos — legitimate interests / steps prior to entering a contract.
- To arrange collection or postage and to pay you if you accept — performance of a contract.
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud/abuse — legitimate interests.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Who we share it with
- Anthropic — your uploaded photos and note are sent to Anthropic's API to produce the valuation assessment. REPLACE THIS with a note on their data handling / your DPA.
- Airtable — if you accept a quote, your contact details and the quote are stored in Airtable as our records/CRM system.
- Couriers — REPLACE THIS (name your courier) to arrange collection or send you a box.
- Professional advisers or authorities where legally required.
International transfers
REPLACE THIS — describe transfers outside the UK (e.g. to Anthropic / Airtable in the US) and the safeguards relied on (UK IDTA / SCCs).
How long we keep it
REPLACE THIS. Suggested: photos and notes from quotes that are not accepted are deleted within [X days]; records of accepted transactions are kept for [X years] to meet tax and accounting requirements.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at REPLACE THIS. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We use only essential storage needed to run the quote tool and remember that you dismissed the cookie notice. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy and the on-site notice will be updated first.
